Our History

The Rotary Club of Aurora Gateway was chartered in 1997 and became part of Rotary District 5450.
We recently celebrated our 25th Anniversary in 2022.

Our club has approximately 24 members and we meet from 7:20 A.M.to 8:30 A. M.  Friday mornings for breakfast.  While we are small, we are mighty!  We've have accomplished much during the years we have been a club.  Here are a few projects we have completed throughout the years:  we've ...

  • Participated in an International matching Grant for a major water project in Piakamate, Peru.
  • Contributed money for Aids/Shelter for the House of Faith Orphanage in Zambia
  • Delivered 7 ambulances to Juarez, Mexico and 1 ambulance to Ghana, Africa
  • Built and stock food in on our 2 Little Free Pantries in Aurora.
  • Given scholarships to Aurora high school students
  • Created mock interviews for graduating high school students
  • Presented books called "I Like Me Books" to kindergardners  at Peoria Elementary Schools
  • Created "Shots for Tots" to vaccinate school age children to prevent polio

The Ideals of Paul Harris, the Founder of Rotary,  and the business and professional men and women of different political, religious and ethnic backgrounds remain our direction in Rotary --better business ethics, fellowship and service to the community.

In the past, The Aurora Gateway Rotary Club has been recognized as a  Paul Harris Award Winner for Club Excellence in our district and we have received the Presidential Citation with Distinction by Rotary International many times over the years.   We also moved into the category of Pre-Eminent Club within our 5450 District during the 2010-2011year.

But it's not all work and no fun for the members of Aurora Gateway Rotary.  We've gone to Playhouses, had Dinner Dances with other rotary clubs and conducted a Talent and Variety Show.  We also meet monthly for a social at a local restaurant.
